Welcome To

Troop 175 Indian Land, SC!

The best and easiest way to begin your Scouting Adventure is to show up at our Troop 175 Indian Land, SC Wednesday meetings!

At Troop 175, our philosophy is "Preparing For Life" and that is demonstrated through the many activities and values that are done and shown by the members of the troop. We will do this by teaching the scouts listening and teaching skills, survival skills, finance skills, backpacking skills, leadership skills, and first aid skills. By learning all these skills, every scout will have the opportunity to earn the rank of Eagle. We love to camp, go hiking, and spend a lot of time learning about conservation, ecology, safety, leadership, and more. Citizenship is also very important to us, and we work on a variety of community service projects throughout the year as well as participate in parades, flag ceremonies, and other local events.

We always encourage our scouts to do their best, and they earn a lot of awards and advancement recognition as a result. Parents are a huge part of our Troop's success. While we understand that not everyone is able to serve as an adult leader or on the troop committee, perhaps you would be willing to be a merit badge counselor and teach the scouts your skills and talents in a way that benefits us all and helps to make Troop 175 Indian Land, SC a fun place to be.

Frequently asked questions

We meet on almost every Wednesday night from 7:00 PM – 8:30 PM year-round. Other than meetings, we offer group activities like camping, hiking, service projects, and field trips to work on merit badges (art galleries, plays, etc.) Our meetings are held at Belair United Methodist Church, located at 8095 Shelley Mullis Rd, Fort Mill, SC 29707

We do not charge any monthly dues. There is an annual fee that you pay to the council when you register, that is currently $80 per Scout. For new Scouts, there is a one-time fee of $25. The dues can be paid to the Troop Treasurer by cash, check, or card. Due to the fact that BSA fees are non-refundable, any scout that fails to pay by recharter time, will not be registered. Uniforms (Both Class A and B) and Scoutbooks are required, and those can be purchased through the Scout Shop and/or your Scoutmaster. There is also a cost to attend the monthly camp outs. These costs are variable and will be announced in advance as each trip is planned. If anyone is unable to attend after the signup deadline, no refunds will be given.

In order to represent the pride of being a Scout, there is a uniform required as part of Troop 175. There are two (2) types of uniforms, Class A and Class B. Class A is the more formal uniform, whereas the Class B is the less formal uniform. For Class A, we require the official Scouts BSA uniform shirt, pants/shorts/skort, shoulder loops, and belt. The Scouts BSA hat is not required, but it is encouraged. The approximate cost of the entire Class A uniform and patches is $160 if everything is purchased new. You can purchase “uniform appropriate” pants through Amazon (ask the Scoutmaster for the link). The troop also maintains a 'uniform closet' of donated uniforms to help troop families with the uniform requirements. The troop provides a new scout their patrol patch. Additional/replacement items are available for purchase either through the troop or online. For the Class B uniform, we require the Troop T-shirt, pants/shorts/skort, and belt. The BSA hat is not required, but it is encouraged. You can purchase the Class B shirt from your Scoutmaster.
